    This Carrera model is based on original Heuer design giving it the same

    • ]]>     This is watch has a great history and a rich legacy. I spent a few months looking into rolex watches before I settled with my Rolex Explorer 2. I was looking for an automatic watch under $5000. I bought my watch in 2007 with the intention of keeping it as a heirloom for my son.

    The Rolex explorer has been in production since the 50's with a revision made in the 1990's. Because Rolex doesn't change these watches often, parts are widely available and cheap so it's a perfect watch to give to your son. This watch meets the standards for the COSC therefore is an officially certified chronometer.

    Another important reason why I went with a Rolex instead of a Tag Heuor or an Omega is that Rolex manufactures 90% of the parts in the watch. You know you are getting quality when you buy a Rolex and combined with a classic styling that won't go out of style you will get a watch that will last!

    The datejust oysterquartz is no longer in production so keeping it scratch free will reward you with many compliments. This mens rolex datejust watch in my opinion is the finest designed watch that rolex has ever produced. It being out of production makes this a rare and desirable watch.

    The datajust oysterquartz does not need to be winded up if you don’t wear it for a few days making it really accurate and reliable. This does come at a price though, the battery needs to be replaced every few years by a specialist because the watch must be water tested and sealed each time to keep the watch protected.

    The dimensions of the original version include 29mm, 35mm, and 40mm. As you can see, the latest edition is much bigger than the old one. For this reason, if you are buying the II then you should expect a bulkier feel and a heavier weight. Expect it to feel very comfortable on your hand as well regardless of the weight.

    Several new features and technologies are added to the II. The most prominent one will be the programmable 10 minute countdown timer which is very useful. Another new feature is the addition of the Easylink system which can help improve both fit and comfort greatly.

    The Triplock system is a new technology that can help protect the watch from water and dust - thus improve the durability and increase the lifespan of the watch.

    These two models of watches are very expensive. The steep pricing is very high by everyone's standards. These watches are luxurious, classy and beautiful. They hold up very well against inflation and retain great value over time.

    The original Yatch Master is now being sold at about $25,000 while the second generation has a retail price of $40,000 and should cost about $35,000 now at major dealers.

    The Size

    The case diameter is 34 mm, and it is similar to the classical Rolex Datejust. It's just a little shorter if compared from lug to lug. The thickness is just about the same from what I see. If you think size is a big issue for you, especially since more and more people are liking to buy bigger watches, you probably won't like the Air King when you first see it. Chances are that once the watch is on your hand, you will start loving what you see.

    Obviously, size can be a very important matter. No pun intended, but if you like the way it fits your wrist, then that is all that really matters.

    The weight of the Air King is a little bit on the heavy side but being a smaller watch by the standards of today, it's really not that heavy. The weight and the smooth oyster bracelet which Rolex is famous for, make a very comfortable wear. With that being said the Air King scores really well in the comfort department.

    The design, just like most of its Rolex brethren, is very plain, simple and classy which translates to "expensive", "luxurious" and "exclusive". Add in the Rolex brand and logo and it looks very pleasing to people's eyes. It is a very simple watch and looks very good. The only letdown in the design department is the quality of the watch box, which is really a non-issue. I am really nitpicking here but a watch that expensive should at least get a well-design well-polished box.

    All in all, the Rolex Air King is a very good watch that will make a great dress watch. It is probably one of the most comfortable watches that money can buy and has a very good look.
